Glacier Lilies Beneath Mt. Baker
Glacier lilies rest, appropriately, along the mountainsides of Mount Baker's glacier covered summit.
Elegant Fine Art Mount Baker Photography
Yellow glacier lilies are often the very first wildflowers to bloom in subalpine meadows and are usually found blooming alongside melting snow. We discovered this extraordinary patch on a mid-July mountain photography hike along Mount Baker’s Skyline Divide Trail. Getting as low as I could to showcase the lilies while still showing the whole mountain from the deep valley to Baker’s snow covered peak, I took my time getting the composition of this fine art Mount Baker photography wall art print perfect.
I love how the diagonal line of the top of the wildflowers cuts almost exactly through the frame, splitting it into even halves. The top half of this mountain photography print represents such a massive subject, while the bottom represents such tiny and delicate ones. Each glacier lily blossom is only an inch or two across and they are very short lived, while Baker is 10,781feet tall and has stood in its place for at least 80,000 years. The contrasting subjects and sheer beauty of this view make this Mount Baker Skyline Divide photography truly fine art.
